Director’s Welcome to MJBW 2022

Director’s Statement

It’s been four years since we put on our last in-person festival, having had to pull the plug on the 2020 incarnation at the eleventh hour. To say we will be pleased to see you again doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel. And how people feel was integral to the planning and programming of our 2022 festival.

I believe the MJBW 2022 festival program has something for everyone – from profound discussion to pure entertainment, literature to food, politics to music. A Nobel Prize recipient, a Booker Prize winner, and winners of more awards and accolades that I could possible list here. Perhaps most importantly, the festival provides the opportunity to celebrate and support our local authors, at in-person events.

For the first time we are offering a VIP pass that covers all events, and a Day Pass for our Sunday panels. Of course, you can also buy single tickets. As I said, we are trying to cater for everyone.

Such a program would not be possible without the efforts and support of our committee, volunteers, sponsors, donors and supporters. I thank you all and welcome you back. May our festival take you one step closer to where we were – and where we all hope we will be again very shortly.
