Ron Merkel

Since returning to the Bar in 2006, Ron Merkel QC has focused primarily on public interest and indigenous matters, but has also acted in complex matters either as counsel, mediator or arbitrator. He has also conducted courses on international criminal law in India, Berlin and Israel. Ron was awarded the 2011 Human Rights Medal by the Australian Human Rights Commission for his extensive human rights advocacy, and the International Commission of Jurists Victoria John A. Gibson AM Memorial Award 2017 for Distinguished Human Rights and Refugee Advocacy.
