An Important Announcement About MJBW 2020

It is with great disappointment that I am writing to inform you that, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and following extensive consultation with medical experts, the Board and Programming Committee of Melbourne Jewish Book Week have decided to cancel the 2020 festival scheduled for May 2-7.

In making this decision, we are putting the health and safety of our community, writers, volunteers, audience members and other guests above all other considerations. We want to ensure that no one feels obligated to participate in, or attend, MJBW, when their instincts and rationale indicate otherwise.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused – but hope that in making this call when we have, any inconvenience will be minimised.

However, planning for the next MJBW festival and pop-up events will gear up as soon as the current COVID-19 pandemic is over.

We invite you to take a browse of our website and look at the rich program of local talent, international headliners and specially curated literary performances that we were so thrilled to bring to you. We hope it inspires you to some further reading and discovery of a host of exciting authors.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,
Nicolas Brasch
Festival Director, MJBW
