Andrea Goldsmith

Andrea Goldsmith is a Melbourne-based novelist. Her fifth novel, The Prosperous Thief, which covers the turbulent sweep of the twentieth century through the lives of two very different Jewish families, was short-listed for the 2003 Miles Franklin award, while The Memory Trap (4th Estate, 2013) was awarded the 2015 Melbourne Prize. Her new novel, The Science of Departures, is a story of exile: exile from country, from home, from self. It will be published later this year. Andrea’s literary essays have been published widely. She has written on such diverse topics as Homer and the Holocaust, on being an Australian Jew, Oliver Sacks, the blood-stained imagination and creativity.
