Diversity with a Jewish Perspective
Melbourne Jewish Book Week has evolved out of the resounding successes of literary events that our committee offered to audiences during the past few years. Our guests have included Dara Horn, Daniel Mendelsohn, Simon Sebag-Montefiore and Rachel Seiffert. With this proud history behind it, Melbourne Jewish Book Week will now be presented in a new association with the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC) at Monash University.
Melbourne Jewish Book Week celebrates the richness of Jewish literary culture from around the world. The 2018 Book Week will feature authors both emerging and award-winning, famous and unknown, familiar and unexpected, with works Jewish by author or by theme. Discussions, readings and performances of books, poetry, songs, and film shine a universal light on Jewish issues and give a Jewish perspective on common collective experience.
Our aim at Melbourne Jewish Book Week is to encourage attendance by members of the broader community who are passionate about writing in all its forms. In a program appealing to every generation, we hope to inspire multicultural dialogue that opens a two-way window into and out of the Jewish community.
